Learn, Laugh, and be entertained by this CD...Love it!

As a fellow musician and a mom of two young boys, I am picky when it comes to children's music. I purchased this CD after hearing so many positive comments about the Battersby Duo. They did not disappoint! "Old Side of Young" has such a variety of humour and creativity. My two boys now know who Albert Einstein is since listening to E=mc2. Mayberry was so original with learning how to whistle and was quite a catchy tune for me to enjoy. Silly Boy really made them proud to be boys. And Elephant's Toenails was just hysterical! Just from this CD, we laughed, learned and enjoyed the originality of each song. Thank you Battersby Duo we are fans and LOVE this CD!!!

Old Side of Young, The Battersby Duo, Battersby Duo Records, 2012; $13.00 CD; www.battersbyduo.com. “The latest release from the ‘Bat’ cave delivers a healthy portion of silly voices, silly songs of substance and a lot of downright, down-home good musicianship. Everyone sounds like they are having a good time and you will too – I should know, I’m on the young side of old…” Kidzmusic.com

ANOTHER WARM AND TASTY TREAT FROM THE BATTERSBY DUO

The Battersby Duo are two wonderful treasures that I have the good pleasure to call Friends. They're reflective of their youthful thinking on this new album with a song called, Old Side Of Young (the Title Song.)

Tim and Laura are "Master Chefs" in children's music silly
, goodnatured fun for kids. They also wax serious, with wit and reflection. Humorous themes that we can all relate to, add flavor, like Cupcakes coming out of an oven, and protein balances in like eating Elephants Toenails and Kids running races in the energetic song Blue Print, plus studying in class with Albert Einstein in E=MC2 and also the fun of a family whistling in unison, give this album an overall balanced feel.

Many of the tunes are crafted so well that the hook lines remain in your head for hours. Not to be missed is Tim Battersby's mastery of his guitar playing on his Taylor guitars and Laura's beautiful harmonies. The Battersby Duo are well seasoned to know and understand their trademark sound.

Old Side of Young is a fun and entertaining CD and is certainly on the Youthful Side of Mature
while being on the Old Side of Young melodically and lyrically. Enjoy It

CLEVER, KIND, AND FUN

My family and I went to see The Battersby Duo at The Straz Center in Tampa Fl. The hall was packed with young kids and their parents and grandparents. When the Battersby's took the stage and played the first song, the under 5 set went wild as Tim and Laura played I Love Bubbles (their hit song from their GRAMMY-nominated album SUNNY DAYS). Next came a beautiful new song from their new album called CUPCAKES, and then for the next 45 minutes The Battersby's performed song after song from "OLD SIDE OF YOUNG.' including the last song on the CD "BLUEPRINT," a tale about the upcoming Olympic Games in the UK this summer. A brilliant and inspirational song, that my Kids adored..."HEY BABY," is my daughter's favourite song, and it is quite beautiful watching my husband and daughter dance to that tune. My son James loves the Mayberry song and actually has learned to whistle since we purchased the CD. "Job well done!!" His favourite song, however, is the ELEPHANTS TOENAILS song that is quite yucky and perfectly brilliant for 6-year-old boys. MY favourite song is SUPER KID, a wonderful and clever romp into encouraging children to be all that they can be.Very clever, and VERY understated.
OLD SIDE OF YOUNG is everything a Kids CD should be. Clever, Kind
, and FUN.

The Battersby Duo Are Always On The RIGHT SID

I cannot think of a more entertaining, talented, and charming act for children than the Battersby Duo. They have talent, wit, and such warmth that all children adore them. This new CD of their "Old Side Of Young" is a wonderful collection of songs that would fit very well in any child's library of recordings. Songs like Super Kid, Elephant's Toenails, Mayberry, and Makeup are nothing short of stunning songs that kids and parents will love. I love these songs, and I love the Battersby Duo.

Old Side of Young is an outstanding album for the whole family

From the Grammy Award-winning Battersby Duo (Tim and Laura) comes this serving of 11 original, humorous songs in various musical styles, including bluegrass, country, jazz, folk. and rock. With excellent vocals (and some lovely harmonies) and backup musicians on guitar, bass, fiddle, piano, drums, resonator, and dobro, the album celebrates positivity and inspiration. Tim uses his silly Cockney accent to great effect in “Elephant’s Toenails,” a song encouraging listeners to dine on all kinds of gross foods, and “Eat Beans” encourages healthier eating. In “Mayberry,” Tim hopes to teach children how to whistle. “E=MC 2” is a tribute to Albert Einstein, while “Blueprint” salutes Sir Roger Bannister’s 4-minute mile. The other songs include “Old Side of Young,” “Super Kid,” “Hey Baby,” “Cupcakes,” “Silly Boy,” and “Makeup.” Featuring excellent musicianship, and creative and humorous lyrics, this is an outstanding album for the whole family.–Beverly Wrigglesworth, San Antonio Public Library, TX

Can't stop smiling!

Anyone who has been fortunate enough to encounter the Battersby Duo in person knows what a wonderful and lasting bond they create with their audience. This CD will instantly create that same feeling with wonderful new songs that feature beautiful harmonies and catchy lyrics that have become the trademark of the Battersby Duo's recordings. Besides the title song, I especially liked Cupcakes. Kids, parents, and grandparents can share the simple joy of this song and the family memories it's bound to trigger. In my opinion, they are really in spirit, the younger side of the Older Side of Young and it shows!
